McDonald County Elk River Crossing

• Great River Engineering was selected to provide engineering services for the design of a bridge replacement project.
• The bridge is located over the Elk River and is a very popular place for canoeists, campers and swimmers.
• The existing bridge was very narrow and would barely allow for the passage of one vehicle, much less the wider recreation vehicles.
• The new bridge provides for safe passage of vehicles and has a sidewalk that was constructed on one side to allow pedestrians to walk across the bridge safely.
• The bridge is 16-foot wide, allowing for one lane of traffic and a pedestrian sidewalk.
• The bridge is 100-feet long with 4 spans.
• The new bridge was raised slightly above the old structure to allow more room for canoeists to pass under the structure.
• Great River prepared all the construction plans and technical specifications for the project.
